The Wanted's Tom Parker admitted he "shattered" when he reject by X Factor

The Wanted star Tom Parker admitted that he "shattered" when he was rejected by the X Factor.

Wimbledon Championship

The singer
admitted that his choice
to sing Westlife's Flying Without Wings at the hearing a "big mistake" was the song.

Parker told Metro: "It's your typical boyband song. You don't meet Simon [Cowell] at the first audition, you sing for a director. He told me, 'It's a no' before I even finished the first chorus.

"I was 16 and it shattered me. I didn't sing for two years. There was a girl who was really terrible at the same audition who got through.

"It turned out she was one of the people they put in the show to laugh at."

Parker eventually performed on X Factor only the results of The Wanted during his single Lose My Mind sung show in November 2010.

Chatting about his audition for The Wanted, Parker added: "Our manager, Jane, started calling me Pete Doherty, which wasn't a great sign.

"I turned up wearing a tracksuit with my hood up, so I looked a bit chavvy, but played Handbags and Gladrags on the guitar. Maybe she saw something in me no-one else did at the time."
